The Minnetonka Alumni Association
Yesterday - Today - Tomorrow
The Minnetonka Alumni Association (MAA) was established in 2002 as a voice for Minnetonka alumni and to focus on four key goals:
1. To encourage a continuing relationship between alumni and the Minnetonka School District
2. To organize alumni activities and support class reunions
3. To contribute human and financial resources to the Minnetonka Public Schools.
4. Establishment of the Fine Arts Endowment Fund (FAEF) in 2004 to provide a permanent source of income to support fine arts activities in the Minnetonka Public School District.
MAA members include graduates of Minnetonka High School, non-graduates who attended for at least one year and all present and former members of the faculty, administration and school board.
In July of 2002 the MAA organized the Minnetonka 50-Year All School Reunion, a highly successful weekend that drew more than 3,000 alumni. The event included a breakfast in the refurbished Minnetonka High School cafeteria, faculty-led campus tours, and a dinner dance on Excelsior's main street.
Alumni Directory and Reunion Planning
Currently the MAA is working in cooperation with the Minnetonka School District to build and maintain a comprehensive alumni directory. Contact information contained in the directory is expected to greatly facilitate alumni activity and reunion planning. MAA representatives will host an information table at each class reunion where alumni may update their contact data and learn more about the MAA. In addition, the MAA is developing a reunion resource directory and planning guide to assist you in your reunion planing. Click here to contact us to assist with your reunion planning.
Fine Arts Endowment Fund
To help ensure a vibrant future for educational programming at the ArtsCenter, opened in 2000 on the Minnetonka High School campus, the MAA has established a Fine Arts Endowment Fund FAEF. The fund's annual yield will be available to Minnetonka district teachers in the form of grants to cover specific arts education requests each year. These annual disbursements, beyond and separate from the schools' normal operating budget, will make possible teaching residencies, guest clinicians, field trips and other extraordinary arts enrichment opportunities for Minnetonka area students. The MAA is a young and growing organization with much to accomplish and ample opportunity for volunteers willing to contribute time, expertise and/or financial support. We actively seek alumni interested in helping us achieve our goals by serving on a committee or as a director. For more information or to volunteer, please contact us.
